It was March in Montana and we were driving around in my dads Suburban up to an area that he elk hunted. The higher we got the more snow we were running into. Of course we ended up getting stuck, it was getting dark and cold. People were complaining. My mom spoke up and said “Just enjoy it, it’ll be an experience you won’t forget.” Everyone continued to grumble.
Looking back now, she was exactly right. I don’t remember anything else from that years trip to Montana.
I now catch myself pushing this idea on other people all the time. When we were packing my bull out in 2014 and the temps were dipping below -10 my brother was complaining. I was singing and telling him to cheer up and enjoy the experience.
This is a short post, but a necessary one. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and try new things, push yourself. Every Time I have pushed myself to a new level I have been amazed at what I can do. I am not anything special either, I am your average American father, the only thing different about me is that I am not afraid to push myself.
Embrace the hard times, push through the pain and keep smiling. It will be an experience and one you’ll likely never forget or regret.
Thank you mom for putting this saying in my head.
